What
is granite mist design?
granite mist
design is a working title for
the design efforts of
Renee Faucher, the owner of The
Fiction Forum.net. I am from
New Hampshire--The Granite State. The phrase, "granite
mist," is something I have used for many years in
poetry and on the web for different "identities."
Therefore, "granite mist design" was a natural
conclusion.
What
services do you offer?
I offer creation of web graphics, web pages, banner ads,
animated banners, copyediting for web pages, and maintenance
services for small web sites. Set-up for hosting accounts,
domain name registration, and scanning are available for
an additional charge.
Why are you
the right person to copyedit the content for my web site?
The
Fiction Forum main site contains 212 standard
pages. That does not include The
Fiction Forum Kids or The Fiction Forum Staff
site. The vast amount of content on those pages is
arranged for easy reading and acquisition of information.
Writing for the Web is different from writing for print.
You should choose someone who has experience with arranging
and editing content for web sites.
Can
I get a shopping cart on my site?
Possibly. If you are a Premier or Business PayPal customer, the
answer is yes. I am not specializing in e-commerce sites so
my services for that will be limited. For more information, please read
this page.
Can
I get a guestbook or sendmail forms?
Yes. Clients are charged for installation and
customization time.
If
you create original web graphics and pages for my site, am I paying
for all
rights to them?
The graphics are yours to keep. I ask that you retain
a link to this web site and "created by" credits
on the bottom of your page. In addition, I reserve the
right to display a copy as part of my portfolio.
What software
and operating system do you use?
My graphics are created with Adobe Photoshop and ImageReady.
I use Dreamweaver MX 2004, Notepad Pro, and Topstyle
for web pages. In addition, I use SwishMax, Fireworks, and FLASH
for .SWF animation. My computer operating systems are IBM compatible
MS Windows XP and Windows 98.

If
you design a site for me, how will I update it?
That is something you should consider. Will you be making frequent
updates? Do you want to learn to maintain it yourself? Are you computer
savvy but don't have the design skills--so you want a site designed
for you that you can maintain? If you will need updates, I can do
that on an hourly basis. If you would like to maintain your site
yourself, the best choice for software is Contribute
2, since it is designed by Macromedia--the
same company that produces Dreamweaver MX. In addition,
I can code a site to work with Contribute 2 and
lock the structure of the pages, so all you have to worry about is
the content.
What are your
rates?
In general, most projects should be dealt with on a case
by case, hourly, basis. Hourly rates vary from $25 - $35
an hour depending upon the type of work. However, there are some flat
rate priced packages available.
What forms
of payment do you accept?
Please view this page for payment
information. I'm now accepting credit
cards. If
you need a website, you can now charge it and pay gradually
through your credit card account.

What
are your Terms & Limitations?
Payment is expected in accordance to the
schedule posted on the RATES page. For all projects, payment or a deposit
is expected before work will begin.
My PayPal account accepts credit card and account transfers. US currency
only.
I do not design for pornographic, illegal, racist, or otherwise unacceptable
sources.
I reserve the right to withdraw from the relationship with any client who
falls within my limitations or does not agree to these terms and will refund
the auction price minus any PayPal fees. *I reserve the right to display
a copy of any and all graphics I design as part of my portfolio and for
use in my own promotional materials.*
What
is your Privacy Policy?
Personal information submitted through email, including
but not limited to addresses and credit card information, is done at one's
own risk. Email transmissions are not secure, and I have no control over
the security of the transmission. However, personal information, telephone
numbers, mailing addresses, email addresses, and financial information
shared between the designer and the client will never intentionally be
revealed to third parties, including marketers, unless required by law
for a government agency. Project previews for the graphics
of sites under development may be posted publicly as part of my portfolio
unless specified otherwise by the client. *I
reserve the right to display a copy of any and all completed project
graphics I design as part of my portfolio and for use in my own promotional
materials unless otherwise agreed upon with the client.*
What
is your Refund Policy?
If a client pays for a web design service
but the project is not acceptable to me because of the Terms & Limitations stated
above, then the client will be refunded the prepaid service price minus
the PayPal transactions fees (if payment is made
via PayPal.) If
the client pays for the service (web site development) and then does not
contact me with instructions, content, and hosting information, within 30
days of the payment, the account will be considered on
hold-but waiting for development. No
refunds will be issued for inactivity on the part of the client. I
will attempt to contact the client by all means available to me. If my
queries go unanswered after 45 days from the
date of purchase, it is the responsibility of the client to contact me
and initiate development. If the client's account is on hold beyond 1 year
from the date of purchase, the account will be closed and no services or
refunds will be delivered.
